Emily Rose Lyons came to BYU from Dallas, Texas. She really learned to sing around the age of 16 when she got her own car and could sing along to her iPod as loud as she wanted, copying the techniques of pop and musical theatre voices she listened to. She discovered the majesty of musical theatre also during high school and was encouraged by friends and teachers to pursue training in college. Her study of theatre has shaped who she is today and has allowed her to celebrate more fully the ups and downs of life. Her heroes include Carol Burnett, Elaine Stritch, Cynthia Erivo, Beyoncé, and her amazing parents. She loves singing and dancing (on and off stage) reading, writing, comedy, fashion, pasta, her friends, and the Muppets.
